Ooops - sideways picture of my blue and white nine patch - I think it needs borders!
I will probably put a white border with a fine blue border and another white or light blue - have to play with it a bit more before I worry about how I will quilt it.Sunday, 24 June 2007
Blue & White Nine Patch
This is my blue and white nine patch quilt - I purchased a pack of Porceline Blue fat quarters at the Tasmanian Craft Fair in March and couldn't wait to make something - so I made a whole heap of nine patch blocks - I was going to put plain blocks inbetween but ended up making alternate blocks instead - I am happy with the layout which sort of graduates from light to dark - almost convergence like!!

Customer Quilts
Lucky this weekend was a long one - because I spent quite a bit of time quilting and binding for two customers. The black and red quilt is a pattern called Bias & Blooms I think - very nice in this colourway - this is the lady's third quilt she has made - I like it.
This next one - is only a very small "tablecloth" - I really did not want to take it to do because - well - the lady had not been quilting very long at all when she made it. But it has come up a treat and I hope she likes it. It is really difficult as new quilter when someone says to you - "See what you can do with this, I don't mind what you put on it"..... I am up for a challenge but have some apprehension before the customer sees the finished products.. but I am sure I am not alone in that!!

Quilting for a Friend in Need
This is a quilt I made for a friend of mine's sister in law. She has cancer and this is her second time around with chemo - so not doing too well at the moment. She turned 40 recently and I arranged for some muslin squares to be signed with pigma pens by her family and friends - I then added these into a border on the quilt. It is a really good lap sized quilt. I have quilted it with my own freehand designs (you might notice I love making paisley feathery things)
Another pic of the back
And finally .... the front.

I am sure this quilt will be well received as it has some lovely messages from friends and family. Quilting is a really good way to send love and hugs to people who are in need of it. Oh..and everyone loved being part of the conspiracy - the big people most of all I think!!
Oh and this is my own design both quilt and quilting - I am pretty happy with it. The fabric looks better in life than in these pictures.
