Lucy Bag Anyone?

I have finished my "Lucy" Bag ... for holding my little balls of wooly loveliness .... you can see the pattern here at Attic24 - Lucy does some great crochetting.

I used some wool/acrylic blend that I had enough of to make the bag - probably wouldn't have gone with the green if I had to purchase the yarn - but hey - it looks okay !

See - fits a bundle in there ... but wait .... look under the chair.  Looks like mischief Merlin - loves to chew yarn and run away with the ball.


Anyway back to the quilting ... I have been busy doing a few custom quilts and edge to edge quilts and getting the backlog out of the way and out to you lovelies.

A Pinch and a Punch ....

A Pinch and a Punch for the First Day of The Month, a Kick and a Hit for Being So Quick ...did you used to say that when you were little - my goodness, we still do and it still makes my 17year old smile when we say it!

My "Life is Beautiful" quilt is home from The Quilt Patch .... I will now sew on those little pies - that will keep my fingers busy for a while in the evenings.

There are a few of them.

A cat in a box - "Jet" in his favourite spot.

On top of the outside fridge.

Two lazy boys , "Merlin" and "Jonathan" .  They were watching Ironman again, because the new movie is out - and you just have to watch the first one again before you see the new one!

I have decided to use the cream quilters muslin to do my wedding ring quilt - you can't really get a good idea here, but this fabric works much much better than the other fabric I was thinking of.

And, finally - some stitching that I did quite awhile ago - last year in fact .

I even lined it with pretty pink fabric.

Ta Da .... it's a fabric bag ... I just have to finish off embellishing it and it will look pretty in my quilting room.    There are a few people though who think they are getting it for their birthdays ... Not I say!

Happy Quilting for now ... I will not be posting until next weekend I don't think .... I have a busy weekend and week of longarm machine quilting .... starting in about half an hour (working on the weekends - great to be my own boss - slave driver I say)!

The Bali Bag

This is the Bali Bag I made for my sister for her birthday- unfortunately she loved it and I had to give it to her - lol! I have lined it as well which looks great and I added a number of pockets to it.

I used a bit thicker cotton rope than the clothesline stuff and found this gave a nicer stiffer bag. I have also made it a bit more barrel like - I used a Hoffman's bali pop "Capuccino" which I got from The Quilt Patch in Launceston.

That is my son "interfacing with his computer" in the background - busy doing homework apparently!

On the weekend I taught a class at Cranberry Crafts in Ulverstone - Wrapped Wire Dolls - the girls did a wonderful job and got further along than I though ... they have homework and four weeks to complete it until the next class - I will post some photos next week of my dolls (as I forgot to take one and the doll is still at the shop).

This weekend I am teaching another Journal Cover workshop at Cranberry Crafts - this is a very popular class as participants get to make a small useable project while learning some free motion quilting and beading techniques. So I am busy busy busy at the moment - keeps me off the streets ... hehehe.

A Big Post, Bags, Dear Jane and Diamonds

At the end of last month I went away on a 3 day Quilting Retreat with the Launceston Patchwork & Quilters group - what a fun time. I took along a little tutorial pattern from the Pink Penguin as I had been wanting to make the little thread end bag for awhile - I ended up making 13 of them and a lot of the ladies also made them - at the end of the retreat - everyone had a little bag - don't they look great! Obviously I am not in the photo as I am taking the photo - lol!





















And this lis my "little" hand piecing project - Stars and hexies made from diamonds. The pattern has 1.5inch hexagons as the background fabric but I decided to make the hexis from three diamonds of different cream background fabric - I am really liking it.

And this is the "big" project box that holds all the finished stars, fabrics and diamonds waiting to be stitched ... also the pattern and other things for the project.














these are all of the coloured diamonds finished ready to be made into stars ... I am still basting the background diamonds so will alternate between making stars and making background diamonds. Looks pretty cool I think.















And drum roll.....I am back at Dear Jane ... I decided not to start any new projects as I have about six or so on the go - until I finish my Dear Jane quilt. My new numbers are 78 blocks, 21 triangles, 4 corners and a total of 2050 pieces to date. These are the two blocks and triangle that I did on the weekend ... I might, just might, get it finished by the end of the year - perhaps they might be the famous last words though.

New Bag

This is my latest creation - using design elements suggested by my Dear Husband - rounded centre and tapering up at the top - I have also added a large pocket to the centre.

More Dear Jane and Bags

I finally finished my hand pieced Eye of the Cyclone block -whew talk about tricky - I ended up machine sewing the four quadrants together.

"Jane's Dear Jane" - Numbers are - 54:2:1:908
And I have nearly all of my triangles drawn out onto freezer paper ready to go for piecing when I need them.


And bags - these are two bags I made - took me about and hour and a half ... easy peasy . I have used pellon inside to give them a firmer feel while still being slouchy. This is an easy way to use my stash as I used a metre of outiside and inside fabric for the larger brown bag. My husband has recommended some design improvements and I will incorporate these into my next bag .... clever thing he is ... just wait and see!
