Getting Updated To 2009 & Mystery Quilts!

This is another quilt I have made from Moda Peace On Earth fabric - their pattern too!
I really quilte like this one too! I am a big fan of Moda fabrics - the quilt is on it's side as it is quite a long quilt - had to fit it on my clothesline to take a photo.

Finally the Red/Black/White quilt has been custom quilted - took me quite a while to do this as I made up the quilting as I went....

I just love the design effect on the back!

This georgeous little darling in coming to live with us in a couple of weeks time - he is a British Shorthair (the other darling is my son - lol! and this is his 16th birthday present) - we went to visit the cattery on Tuesday and pick him out of the litter - very cute - I want to call him Flash Gorgonzola (fast blue cheese) - but no one else is keen on the name - I wonder why.....I'll probably call him that anyway ... I'll have to wait and see what my son and husband come up with - but our son has the final choice!

And ...... THE MYSTERY QUILT........................................................................

Bonnie Hunter from Quiltville announced in December a New Year Mystery Quilt ...... you can see it at ... http://quiltville.com/doubledelight1.shtml

I wasn't sure I wanted to take this on at the moment as I have never done a Mystery Quilt before .... but after looking at all the fabric choices, I spent New Years Day going through my stash and found some suitable fabrics .... hope they work well in the final quilt.

These are my first two blocks - Part 1 is the blue centre, Part 2 is the Chedder coloured Centre - 120 units of each - whew - now I just have to trim them all up to 3.5 inch square.

Chain piecing last night .....

The first block ready to go....

And ... my fabric choices - I didn't have any shirting fabrics so have substituted the pale blue on blue, a light pink on pink fabric for the main colour as I didn't have any dark double pinks, the blue batik for the indigo, chedder/gold, and a brown/green/pink batik for the brown fabric.

Can't wait for Bonnie to post the next installment on this one...
Cheers for now and Happy Quilting ....Jane
