The Whole Quilt & Nothing But The Quilt

This is my Blue & White Hexagon quilt hanging at the Melbourne Exhibition this weekend. Thanks to Wendy W for taking the photo for me.

This quilt is hand pieced using the traditional English Paper Piecing method (but without stitching the basting through the papers) . It only uses six blue fabrics plus the white and no two hexagon flowers are the same fabric combination. I started piecing it in early 2008 and finished this year in May 2009. I used to take the little hexies everywhere with me - even took them to Townsville on our long motorbike ride last year.

When I finally put this quilt together I had really bad withdrawal symptoms from hexies - lol! So now I am handpiecing diamonds and will put a pic up soon.

If anyone wants to see other hexagon quilts and things in progress by others ... click on over to the Great Hexagon Quilt Along - too

Happy Quilting for now ... Jane

Wow Jane,
That quilt is just so crisp and clean! I'm not a hex fan but your quilt is enought to tempt me!

Well done!

That is breathtaking! I've always admired Grandmother's Flower Garden quilts - oh, how I wish I had the patience for all of that handwork.

Congratulations on completing such a beautiful quilt - - it will become a precious heirloom

Hi Jane, I happened to find the hexagon quilt along and found your beautiful GFG quilt. I have been working on my forever GFG project for 10 years now. I only work on it when I'm vacationing or traveling in our RV so that's why it's taken me so long. I'm finally putting the blocks together and looking forward to completing the top someday. I used the paper hexes to baste my blocks and now find there are many new techniques to sew them together. I enjoyed seeing your quilt and will stop by again sometime.
Your beautiful quilt has inspired me to finish mine.

I love your quilt so much that it started me making blue/white hexies. It looks so clean and crisp. I want one!
I also belong to the Hexies 2 group. I will be sending in polkadots for the PotLuck.
