Hello Again

 Hi ... did you think I had dropped off the face of the earth?   I have had to have a little break but here I am again.

I have a few pictures of some quilts I have just finished.  I have a customer who hand pieces her blocks, then she gets me to put the blocks together with sashings and borders and quilt them ... this is her house blocks ... so cute.

And this same customer gave me two  Maisy panels and asked me to make a quilt for her grandson ... this is the completed quilt.   She had a strip of Maisy fabric which I used at the top of the quilt to make it a bit longer.

I was also recently in Adelaide for a workshop with Internationally acclaimed Long Arm Quilting teacher, Sharon Schamber.   Her work is truely stunning and if you have a spare $20 or $40 Thousand she may quilt for you!

While I was in class, I did what I usually do  - draw -  it helps me to retain what is being said and I find I can usually recall the class better at a later date.
Anyway ... I thought I would share it with you because it is so much like my super custom quilting (that no-one else can afford either as it take so much longer and would cost at least three times the usual for a custom quilt).  But ... if you did want this type of quilting ... intensive and beautiful ... I would certainly give you a price!

Welcome to the New Year

 Some of last year's quilts ... I love Maisy - this was a quilt that I was asked to make up from some Maisy panels - isn't it cute.

 Another edge to edge pattern - Angel Wings.

 This is a Tasmanian Brown Trout - very yummy.  We went fishing in the Highland Lakes region in Tasmania over the New Year ... very relaxing.

 Of course we took our kitties with us ... Merlin loved the wood pile.

 Jet preferred the bucket - any bucket will do.

This was the view from our tent - directly overlooking Lake Arthur - 'twas beautiful.

So ... welcome to the New Year - I know we are a fair way into January already but better late than never!   

I am looking forward to a wonderful quilting journey again this year ... and to start it all off I have been asked to be a guest speaker at the The Australian Quilters Association later this year ... now that is an honour and I am looking forward to it immensely.

More Quilting

Here is some of the quilting I have done in the past few months ...

this quilt was made in 1997 I think -blocks made by different people - so it is a friendship quilt. I was asked to quilt it - however I liked. I think the end result is great - simple quilting but the look is quite effective - I love the back on this one too!

this next quilt I am only showing the back - to show the quilting - customer was very happy too!













This next quilt was done for a wife's friend of my husband's in Ballarat ... again just asked to quilt but not sure what ... I felt a bit of freedom here as it was a free quilt job! I had fun quilting it.





















This next quilt - I was asked to make a blue and yellow lap quilt - made in a very very busy hectic day - the recipient was apparently over the moon! This makes the effort well worthwhile.

Information on the "Cat Quilt" - Twisted Tails

I have had so many of you all wanting information on this quilt ... so what better way to tell you all than by putting in the link ...it is a free pattern from http://www.quiltzine.com/tales1.html

Mine is an adaptation of the pattern -

If you start with a snail trail block - you can build up the rest of the cat - just draw it up. My cats block is 60 inch square for the whole four cats - I started with four 2.5inch blocks to make my four patch in the centre and built it up from there. Then fit in half square triangles into each corner. If you want smaller Cats, just start with those four centre blocks smaller

Kitty Quilt finished

The kitty quilt is finished .. just got to put a label on.
The quilt measures 75 x 75 inches - a nice size.

The centre panel with the cats is 60inch square.





I used a lovely rich brown/gold fabric from Robert Kaufman as the backing - and have also used this to bind the quilt with.


And the quilting pattern .... Cat's Paws ... which I thought was very fitting. Now I just hope the receipient of this quilt loves it as much as I do.

So ... back to my Double Delight Mystery Quilt which has to have the borders sewn on....loving it.
